Study International Commercial Arbitration at UCLan
Lancashire Law School is delighted to announce to you an exciting new course training in the field of International Commercial Arbitration following its approval as a Recognised Course Provider by the internationally-renowned Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
International Commercial Arbitration is a process for the settlement of disputes outside the courts, but using a judicial technique. One or more ‘Arbitrators’ constitute an Arbitral Tribunal which reviews the evidence and makes a decision that is binding on all parties to the dispute.
The role of an Arbitrator is similar to that of a judge, although the procedures are more flexible. The course will equip you with a foundational knowledge in a system of law and a dispute resolution discipline that Lord Neuberger has described as:
“Essential for the national business community [and] also essential for the international business community”.
The course provides the first steps on the pathway to developing a practice as an arbitrator, whether as a secondary legal career or as a primary vocation. The course is equivalent to the first stage of training on the CIArb International Arbitration pathway. Successful completion of this entry-level course leads to eligibility to apply for Associate membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and therefore use the suffix, ACIArb.
We are fully recognised and approved by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb)
